SOLVED: Wiring Diagram for Ruud Heat Pump - Fixya
wwwa›Forum›Heating & CoolingWiring Diagram for Ruud Heat Pump Can you tell me where I can get the wiring diagram/schematic for my heat pump. Had - Heating & Cooling questionUnfortunately, the wiring diagrams for heat pumps are not so easy to come up with. The outdoor unit will have its own diagram, but may not include the indoor air handler and will probably not include the thermostat. That said, the orange wire is commonly run from the thermostat to the reversing valve in the outdoor unit. This wire is usually not connected to the indoor airhandler. The orange wire is usually used in a unit that has the reversing valve energized in cool. Ruud, however has its reversing valve energized in heat. Probably not useful but maybe helpful
MikeBest answer · 5Hi there,
Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US. Here's a link to this great service Good luck!The orange wire coming out of the outside unit is for the reversing valve( controls the heat and cool mode of the ac) If its unhooked, it will be either in the ac mode all the time or the heating mode all the time depending on the style of the reversing valve. The orange wire goes to the (O terminal) inside the outside unit.
There is also another orange wire that goes from the air handler to the thermostat. One orange for the thermostat, and another to the condenser( out side unit)0Depends on t stat type Different manufactures use different terminal designations for energizing a certain relay or such. However orange mostly goes to the o/b term. on stat for energizing the rvs. out at the od. unit, and does not need to connect to th ahu. at all because of no electrical reason for it to do so. on the other end of the spectrum Orange has been used for a common ive seen and in that case connects to common side of transformer and all else requiring a common 24 volt wire.2I'm a Certified HVAC Technician and have been working in this industry since 1996. I simply went too wwwle and typed in RUUD HEAT PUMP WIRING DIAGRAM, and found the following website URL where you can view and download and print your own PDF copy: https://wwwle/search?q=ruud+heat+pump+wiring+diagram&hl=en&prmd=imvns&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=5b5aUNyLAuXa2QW0h4CIBw&ved=0CB0QsAQ&biw=1366&bih=576 But, for your information, in MOST cases, standard COLOR Coded WIRING for HEAT PUMP applications shows the ORANGE wire gets landed onto the "O" Terminal on the Heat Pump Thermostat, at the AIR HANDLER both ORANGE WIRES simply get twisted together and capped off with a WIRE NUT, and the ORANGE WIRE on the OUTDOOR UNIT also gets twisted together with the ORANGE WIRE coming down from the AIR HANDLER UNIT and capped off with a WIRE NUT. Therefore, O = Orange Wire = Reversing Valve. Good Luck.0Mknopmnimnae0You should give more data as;
